Match Preview

As time ticks closer towards 31st August, the match between RFC and BPFC draws closer. After nearly a month out of action, BPFC is eager to keep their unbeaten record against RFC at woodgrove secondary. History is not on the side of BPFC the last game played there for BPFC ended in a woeful 2-1 loss after conceding 2 corner kicks, one of which was right at the death. This is also not helped by the fact that the scouts sent out by BPFC all came back with a serious and stern report, all of which revealing the tremendous amount of quality and talent from the opposite camp.

"We will be facing a very different RFC from the one that played at NUS. The players must be mentally and physically prepared and raise their level of performance for this game." - Gaffer Ang

There are still doubts over the availability of 3 key players in Favian, Yun and Yu Hao whilst Kel and Song have ruled themselves out for the game once again. Favian is suffering from a broken toe nail, Yun will be playing only if his book in timing is later whiles Yuhao has seemingly gone AWOL and the last that was heard from him was "hello! i prefer 3-5 woodgrove..haha ". Should the 3 of them be available on Sunday, there will be intense competition in the starting 11 and im sure this competition can only be a healthy one. Goalkeeping defender Kai has declared football over religion this weekend and he will be challenging for a place in the back 4 with world best right back Ang. Ex top scorer Steven Oon has also managed to swap his duty and will be back in the squad, hoping to outscore current golden boon Alan with hopefully goals that will not be deemed as offside. The rest of the squad have all declared fit and ready to break the curse at Woodgrove's field.

Despite strong words from the manager himself, the media has been hyping about the Gaffer's seemingly rounded outlook. When interviewed by the press, some fans have casted doubts over the manager's fitness as he was often seen lurking around at the Frontier, the science faculty canteen. In order to find out more, a reporter for the Strikes Times specially went down to school and true enough, he found injured Kel and singing left back Joel Yeo having prata and thosai with lots of curry. Ang is reported to be in a bad shape and might not be able to last the full 90 minutes on Sunday.

On another note, the only non-bpian in the club was given an official warning for his poor performance during the pumping of the spalding ball on Wednesday. Due to the boring nature of the tutorial and the large amount of tiongs in the class, Joel felt bored and decided to pump the ball in order to get ready for the street soccer game later on. A seemingly easy task was made difficult after Joel's ignorance broke the needle, leaving half the needle in the ball and the other broken half in the pump. The BPFC board of directors have decided to give Yeo another chance and any recurrence of Wednesday's incident will mean he will be demoted to just a ball pumper in future to improve his skills.

Bullshit aside, its been quite some time since our last game and Im quite sure quite a few of us not in NS have lost quite a lot of fitness since school started. Attendance is quite encouraging and the opponents should be really strong. We are a decent young team. Lets keep our shape and play our slick passing the way we want it. Enjoy the beautiful game. Lets do it against this Raffles team, we smelly smelly also is RI of the west. hahaha

No game on 16th/17th Aug

There will be no game this week. Im sorry about this but the late confirmation meant that i cudnt get a pitch in time and im trying to adapt to a new start in uni as well. I hope we can secure an opponent for next week asap. Please contact your friends to arrange for games as we will try our best not to get games from ref, reason being its more expensive.

Tentatively opponents awaiting games as of now,
RJ team - the one we played at NUS but with more first teamers this time
PengYong's frens team
Yuzheng's team - Ang's fren's another team who played at Yusof Ishak
Team Orange - They sent me a mail asking for game coming week at Saint Wilfred 1-3pm. You guys keen? (refer to tagboard)

As you can see, we do have teams waiting to play but sometimes pitch and late confirmations are always a problem. We will try to devise a relay system and have someone in charge of making sure we always have 11 players available, yes we do have a really small squad. But as far as im concerned, i think the whole team is really committed and this ensures that we always have sufficient players for games. Most likely the point of contact for attendance will be Shuheng if he has no probs with that. I will then be in charge of booking pitches, ref and opponents. Opponents wise please help contact your friends in advance and let them know we are looking for games.

Lastly, I would like to wish fellow Maths Major Student Joel all the best in his trials at NUS soccer. His consistent performance for BPFC will be put at test when he competes with club players for a spot in the prestigious NUS soccer team. Go go go! haha

Team Matters

I appreciate the efforts of everyone who tried to get us opponents today, namely Shuheng, ShengJie, Jackson, PengYong, Favian, Kai, GuoXing and BingXian. I know its a bit fked up but i tried my best too to get opponents. I try and ensure there wont be a second time for such things to happen.

Ive got another ref asking us to play 9am Canberra Sec coming sunday 17th Aug. Costs $80 per team but as part of our networking i think we should play this game so as to secure more opponents with this referee in future. Canberra Sec is at Sembawang but im afraid 9am is too early for some of us. Need to reply by Tuesday night.

Alternatively, I am able to book a field and then secure opponents and that will only cost us $50. This time round there will confirm have opponents so don worry. What say you all? Tag and let me know.

11 of us went down to the field today. After some payments of $3 each team fund now has:
Left over from last time - $4
Payment from today - $33
Field today - -$50.

We are now suffering from a deficit of $13.

Oh and i need pple to help me share the load of organising games. I can contact ref and book fields but informing of players might be taxing. Please give me your help if not i don think i can sustain this team all by myself. Sch's starting and things are getting more busy. Pls understand!
