08/06/08 BPFC 3-0 someRJC FC @ NUS

BPFC continued their unbeaten streak to 4 games in a row, the exact number of games being played since the team is established. Despite pre game worries about 'the field being closed',the match went on as planned. BPFCperformed well to secure the first clean sheet under our belt. Little were known about our opponents except some hearsay that some of them were from the RJC team that finished 4th in the 2005 A division.

The return of first choice Keeper and top scorer Bing Xian (whom after this game must share that accolade with steven) meant that BPFC will play with first choice defence and midfield with last week's hattrick hero steven and top assister favian taking the flanks, joint by midfield maestro Xing and the mercurial Bing Xian. In the absence of versatile Sheng Jie, Joel Kelvin Yun and Ang combined once again in the defence which hasnt kept a clean sheet in the past 3 games. With 4 strikers to take up 2 spots, Gaffer Ang decided to start speed demon Mark Ng together with the ever reliant PengYong.

BPFC dictated play in the opening minutes of play with calm and composed passing throughout the team. BPFC almost drew first blood when a counter attack saw BX ghost past the oppo's rightback and the centreback. However he could do better with better finishing as he skewed his shot wide off the far post with only the keeper to beat. Not all things were one way traffic and smooth sailing for BPFC as our opponents started to gain a foothold in the game as the minutes go by. Their main threat came from the left wing where out-of-position-ang had to constantly chase back to cover. Minor mistakes from individual defenders were well covered by each other and keeper jackson only had a few routine saves to make.

In the other end, Xing and BX combined well in the centre of the park to release our wingers each time. In one particular move, Xing received the ball in the centre thru Ang, beat a few men before releasing top assister Favian at the byline. Ironically, Favian's cross did not turn out to be the provider this time. Instead, it went over the keeper and straight in the net! 1-0 to BPFC. There were some scrappy plays in the first half from both teams. One remarkable incident included their centreback's 2 footed lunge on Pengyong which the referee waves play on despite furious protest from Xing, let alone any card of any colour being dished out to the CB (Centreback i mean). Weird refereeing decisions included their keeper lao kiu-ing and pengyong's followup was deemed as offside? (Well it really was offside at least in my opinion haha-from BX)

The game went better for BPFC in the second half. The introduction of kept-thinking-how-to-score Shuheng and Alan provided additional bite to the team upfront.

Steven scored early on after being played in by Xing. He scored the 4th identical goal of the season by running down the left and then passing the ball to the back of the net. This is more affectually known as CTRL-C times 1 and then CTRL-V times 4 for all of steven's goals this season.

Minutes later, a through ball from BX played shuheng in and he was one on one with the opposing keeper. First touch to control, and as you all know, the second is to hit the ball to the back of the net. His teammates were as delighted as he is to see him score his first goal for the club. PTI Tan was all smiles as he walked back to the halfway line. Kudos to the lad.

The team then showed flair and confidence after scoring this 3rd Goal. This was well portrayed by BX's mazy runs at the left wing, Xing's neat dribbling and spraying, Yun's sudden burst to join the attack with a long shot, and also Ang's outrageous ole! in the middle of the park.

It was a good outing for BPFC especially for the defence who kept their first clean sheet in 4 games, narrowly missing out in last game's 7-1 victory after a certain right back went bonkers and slide in the penalty box despite being 4-0 up. This game, we converted most of the chances we have and didnt really create much more than the 3-0 scoreline suggests.

Good Game. Next team!

*I became a bit tired typing towards the end. Hard for me to note down every single detail in the game.. So please support me by posting some comments for everyone to read as well! Kaobeing is very welcomed as well. - Ang

*Yup definitely a taxing game. Up against tough physical opponents on a sapping pitch certainly does not make the game easier. Next week would be a well deserved break for everyone. -BX
