BPFC 4-1 Las Hearutsusu FC

The field at Yishun definitely lived up to its name as botak, totally the same as when viewed from google earth's satellite. The condition of the field thwarted BPFC's plan of slick and smooth passing, resulting in a slightly different approach to the game.

The game saw 2 debutants, 50 million signing targetman YuHao as well as right back "KongBa" Kian Tat. Auntie Mary's rumour of a 442 was proven to be true as BPFC chose to stick with the regular formation. GK Jackson came from a game in the morning and his defence was marshalled by commanding centre half HongYun, striker-turned-defender Shuheng, as well as fullbacks Ang and Joel. In the absence of star player Guoxing, BX and Fav combined in the botak field, flanked by steven and alan. Pengyong and debutant Yuhao started up front.

The game went well for BPFC as we took the lead early on. A run down from right winger Alan ended up in a superb cross which saw YuHao one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Like any other 50 million striker would do, he kept his composure and struck the ball to the back of the net. 1-0 to BPFC and a debut goal for Yuhao.

Things continue to look bright for BPFC as we continued to apply pressure at the opponent's half. An early injury to winger Alan meant that mark will be introduced early into the game. Our corners caused constant threat to the opponent's goal and some even nearly went in from the corner. Soon after, a left corner taken by BX found Mark in the box and he duely finished off the move with a textbook header which rocked the back of the net. In his first goal for the club, his teammates congratulated him and the player truly enjoyed his goal.

Things continued to be one way traffic in the first half. However, the defence dropped its guards and in a particular move, Ang and the ever solid shuheng hiccupped. This saw opposing attacker got the ball amd seemingly one on one with the goalkeeper. Amazingly, Shuheng got back to cover his ground and was able to clear the ball away. The team had other chances, notable ones including Bing Xian's long range thunderous effort which went just a little over the bar, his intention to replace Xing as the pillar of the team was also recognized by his winning of headers again and again. Yuhao also had a glancing header that went just wide of the post. Joel and Steven sent plenty of crosses into the box whilst Favian pulled the strings in the centre.

Half time, 2-0 to BPFC.

There were some changes in the second half as player manager Ang subbed himself off to make way for debutant Kian Tat at right back. It wasnt all one way traffic in the second half. The defence was seemingly tested time and again and LHFC had 2-3 one on ones on goal and luckily for BPFC, most of these shots went just wide. There was a chance where Bing Xian brought the ball from the halfway line and surprisingly, was asked to shoot from range by Joel. However, BX dismissed Joel's comments completely by rebutting with a typical "siao ah" that could be heard even from the bench. The game was also marked by moments of rough play as rock solid Shuheng complained of being attacked at his back 4 times by the opponents elbow. He retaliated with a "what the fug", and only went off with a warning and no card. Kudos to the ref for his excellent refereeing throughout the game.

The 3rd goal came not long after. Yun brought the ball out of defence and finished off the move at the other end of the field in a swift counter attack move. Alan's overhit through ball went all the way to the keeper. A determined Yun chased all the way and his efforts were paid off. A poor clearance from the keeper fell to the rock-at-the-back and without any hesitation, Yun BLASTED the ball into the net. What a shot!

Ang also returned to the game in his prefered right wing role. In his first game as a right winger for the team, he showed great promise by sending a few crosses, weaving magic and the right, inclusive of an Ole! which was agonisingly cleared away by the covering defender. Ang has sent out a strong signal regarding his intention to replace favian at the right wing berth with such a performance (Haha, pardon the self praise). An excellent move in the second half saw ang playing the ball to BX, who in turned exchanged passes with Favian before releasing left winger and joint top scorer Steven into an excellent crossing position. It was a sweet smooth flowing move that BPFC hopes to achieve as much as possible in every game. Right to left, left to right in one linking move.

Our corners once again proved to be the architect of our goals. Our umpteenth corners was finally paid off in the second half. Steven's wizardry curling ball caused so much problem for the defence and there was a mini ping pong going on within the 6 yard box. 50 million striker showed why he was worth so much as he was at the right place at the right time to poke the ball into the net. 4-0 to BPFC.

It could have been 5-0 for BPFC soon after. In a move which saw Yuhao last touch on the ball that is already on the way to cross the goal line, Steven seemingly stealed the goal when he touched the ball just before it crossed the line. However, his celebrations as the top scorer of BPFC was cut short by the kopitiam referee who said that Steven is offside! In my opinion, he is not offside since he was a running man from behind the defence. Nonetheless, the ruling of offside to the goal meant that steven's intention of being top scorer did not come true and he remains the only player to score a hattrick in a game. Well done steven!

Stealing is a chargeable offence in Singapore. Luckily for steven, he was only caught for offside and not for the crime. Despite the team KBing him after the game, he still could smile cheekily and said to his teammates, 'if you all were in my position, you all would have done the same lor'.

LHFC did draw one back in what seemed like a foul on pre enlistee Yun. He shackled Yun to the ground before blasting the ball to the top of net after being one on one with Jackson. Goal or no goal? You decide.

As this game was meant to be a testimonial match for Yun, of course he would want everyone to have a lasting impression of him. To him, scoring a goal wasnt good enough. HE WANTED TO GET SENT OFF! however, due to lack of saliva. he was unable to spit at the referee after he was shackled to the ground. Sigh, what a waste. what an impression he would have left if he got his marching orders during his testimonial game!

At the end of the day, BPFC was all smiles as we managed to win the game without maestro Guo Xing. Well done and we await the next game, most probably on 20th July as the Gaffer is off to Cambodia and Vietnam, not for voluntary work, not for war, but for a well deserved holiday. All the best to Hong Yun's enlistment and lets win more games in his absence.

Just a thing to note, we continued the statistic of an avg 4 goals scored and 1 goal conceded per game with this 4-1 victory. If only i could bet, i would definitely have placed a pick the score 4-1 bet and win loads of cash. Also, there is an excess of $11 today and the fund now has $16. Just a bit more to the buying of a new ball.

Till the next game.

BP! Ooooooshhhh!

Game on 29th June, Sunday, 3pm

Testiomonial game for Hong Yun before his enlistment will be at a certain field at Yishun. Believed to be in not too good condition according to experience keeper Jackson. Meeting time is 2pm at Yishun MRT. Do take note that it costs $80 a team for this game, roughly a staggering $7 per player as we will only have a max of 12 players. Ex-Bpian Sim might be making an appearance for the team as well.

Opponents for this game is Las Hearutsusu FC
whom which Kelvin and ShengJie is still playing for. Coincidentally, both of them will be unavailable to both teams due to Joey Yung. Gaffer Ang left LHFC early this year and will be looking for a good game against his ex-club this coming sunday.

Confirmed: Jackson, Joel, HongYun, ShuHeng, Steven, BingXian, Favian, Ang, Alan, Yuhao, Mark, PengYong.
Yet to reply: Sim

Out:
Guoxing - Driving
Kai - Religious commitments
ShengJie & Kelvin - Genting to watch Joey Yung concert
Song Yee - Damaged Inner Knee Cartilage

Gaffer Ang was spotted to be with right winger Favian Ng and long term absentee Song over lunch at the Ghim Moh hawker centre. It is believed that the trio are discussing about the line up and tactics for the sunday's game. Little was made known to the public as the Gaffer prefers to reveal his starting line up and formation only at the last hour to keep his players on their toes.

When interviewed by The Strikes Times, Auntie Mary said,
"I was sitting at the same table as them at Ghim Moh and overheard their conversation. Coz my ang moh not weh good ah, i only can lia a bit of kiu. But i think they say they want to play si eh lang at the back..."

Auntie Mary's interview was cut short as a long freebies queue was spotted somewhere near Pen and Cherry's. It was believed that it was P & C's promotion of a free corn day.

With the loss of 2 centrebacks and star midfielder guoxing, there have been several selection problems ahead of the clash. Our favourite 442 formation is being placed under threat with only 3 defenders available for the game. However, it is rumoured that the Gaffer will still go along with 442, reason being the stability of the formation, tried and tested. This will mean that there will be a makeshift defender required, likely to be Yuhao or Shuheng. It is a general philosophy to start building a team with a stable defence and this will certainly satisfy that theory.

Other options include playing 3 at the back, with Ang being released to right wing position, in a bid to send in more crosses with Favian being shifted to centre mid in the absence of Xing. Or, Yuhao will take centre mid with Favian continuing his prefered RM role. It is also possible to slot Alan into a defensive mid position whilst Yuhao will play as a targetman

The Board of Directors at BPFC has also made known to the public that Ang's position as the manager of the club is highly secure. They have also dismissed rumours of Goos Hitting's links with the club. This vote of confidence to Ang can only further cement his reputation and position in the world footballing arena. Also, the Gaffer believes that Arshabing and weckham is not anywhere better than his current crop of players and the duo will not be even allowed for a trial at the club.

What is your preferred formation and tactics?

Cya guys on sunday for this testimonial match.
Lets win it.

BPFC vs X-S FC - 22nd June, Sunday

A sleepy Ang woke up early in the morning just to realise that it is pouring outside with what seems like no chance of a recovery.

Damn Sian.

GAME CANCELLED :(

BPFC will take on X-S FC on 22nd June, kick off 10am at Home Ground (location not named for security issues).
Please be at the field by 930am. Those meeting at Buona Vista by 9am.

Check out their site at http://www.x-sfc.blogspot.com

Prematch preparations against X-S FC took a heavy blow when hardworking striker Tan Peng Yong ruled himself out of the match.

When interviewd by the press, Tan said, "I would not be able to make it this sunday due to a last minute guard duty. I wish the team luck in this upcoming game."

The gaffer is also eagerly anticipating the reply of debutant Yuhao. Should he be available, all is not lost with the exclusion of PY. Teo will provide a different dimension and edge to BPFC's attack. The team was also boosted by Favian's inclusion in this sunday's clash.

Just a little note, opponents' team consists largely of people from anderson secondary, with a few of them hailing from JC school teams in the north region. This should be a tough game for BP FC.

Players confirmed for the game:
Zhi Yuan
Bing Xian
Jackson
Joel
Shengjie
Guoxing
Shuheng
Mark
Steven

Squad Status

BPFC have a current healthy strength of 17 players (click above for clearer view) after the transfer season ended on 8th June 2008, Sunday. Recruitment is closed forever and Gaffer Ang hopes that this team will stay on through thick and thin in the coming years and even decades.

BPFC managed to snap up targetman Teo Yu Hao in a frantic end of summer transfer window. Yuhao has since declared himself available on Sundays, having previously placed under heavy scrutiny by the media for his holy commitments. With the recruitment of chief striker Teo, the striking department is strongly strengthened, now with 5 players competing for 2 positions, competition of places can only be a healthy one.

However, these 5 do not include talismanic forward, Song. The striker is currently going through a bad patch after a freak injury incident at the boon lay street soccer court during pre season warm up more than a month ago. In a routine twist and turn by the tricky striker on the court, his lower leg (knee and below), braked before his upper leg (thigh) could stop in time. In bizzare circumstances, the thigh then moved forward while his shin and feet stay rooted to the ground. What may look simple proved to be more than just a light sprain as the striker failed to recover after a month. His debut on 18th May worsened the injury despite not touching the ball and being on the pitch for only 36 seconds. His sheer presence boosted the morale of the teammates who then went on to beat PTI FC 4-1 on that day. SGH later on diagnosed that beefy striker lim will be out for at least 8 weeks, failing which he will require an operation to repair the damaged inner cartilage of his left knee.

Due to insufficient team funds, the club regrets to announce that song's physiotherapy or operation (touch wood) will not be funded by the club. The lack of funds was not helped by the fact that gaffer Ang believes that the collection of $2 last sunday was not complete. Due to poor memory and tons of admin work to tie up, Ang could not remember the last person who has coincidentally forgotten to pay up (haha just to kb pls don take it seriously). The team fund now boasts a fund of $5, sufficient for practically nothing, sadly.

Just some interesting numbers about the team.

7- The number of players who were born in the year 1988, Jackson, Xing, Oon, Alan, PY, Yuhao and Ang!
6- The highest price each person ever payed for a game, @ Fuhua Sec
5- The number of positions Sheng Jie has played for. DL, DC, ML, MR, ST
4- The number of goals that BPFC has conceded this season, coincidentally, it is the average number of goals we have scored each game.
3- These are the only 3 players, Zhi Kai, Joel and our beloved Song Yee, who won every game that they have played, for BPFC.
2- The number of penalties given away, of whom steven and ang should be guilty.
1- The number of games which the security guard has attempted to stop us from playing.

Current scorers:
4 - Steven, Bing Xian
3 - Alan
1 - Xing, Yun, Favian, Shuheng, PengYong

Assists:
I need help with this.

Thats all for today folks.
A post a day keeps the boredom away (at work of coz).

Till the nxt time!

08/06/08 BPFC 3-0 someRJC FC @ NUS

BPFC continued their unbeaten streak to 4 games in a row, the exact number of games being played since the team is established. Despite pre game worries about 'the field being closed',the match went on as planned. BPFCperformed well to secure the first clean sheet under our belt. Little were known about our opponents except some hearsay that some of them were from the RJC team that finished 4th in the 2005 A division.

The return of first choice Keeper and top scorer Bing Xian (whom after this game must share that accolade with steven) meant that BPFC will play with first choice defence and midfield with last week's hattrick hero steven and top assister favian taking the flanks, joint by midfield maestro Xing and the mercurial Bing Xian. In the absence of versatile Sheng Jie, Joel Kelvin Yun and Ang combined once again in the defence which hasnt kept a clean sheet in the past 3 games. With 4 strikers to take up 2 spots, Gaffer Ang decided to start speed demon Mark Ng together with the ever reliant PengYong.

BPFC dictated play in the opening minutes of play with calm and composed passing throughout the team. BPFC almost drew first blood when a counter attack saw BX ghost past the oppo's rightback and the centreback. However he could do better with better finishing as he skewed his shot wide off the far post with only the keeper to beat. Not all things were one way traffic and smooth sailing for BPFC as our opponents started to gain a foothold in the game as the minutes go by. Their main threat came from the left wing where out-of-position-ang had to constantly chase back to cover. Minor mistakes from individual defenders were well covered by each other and keeper jackson only had a few routine saves to make.

In the other end, Xing and BX combined well in the centre of the park to release our wingers each time. In one particular move, Xing received the ball in the centre thru Ang, beat a few men before releasing top assister Favian at the byline. Ironically, Favian's cross did not turn out to be the provider this time. Instead, it went over the keeper and straight in the net! 1-0 to BPFC. There were some scrappy plays in the first half from both teams. One remarkable incident included their centreback's 2 footed lunge on Pengyong which the referee waves play on despite furious protest from Xing, let alone any card of any colour being dished out to the CB (Centreback i mean). Weird refereeing decisions included their keeper lao kiu-ing and pengyong's followup was deemed as offside? (Well it really was offside at least in my opinion haha-from BX)

The game went better for BPFC in the second half. The introduction of kept-thinking-how-to-score Shuheng and Alan provided additional bite to the team upfront.

Steven scored early on after being played in by Xing. He scored the 4th identical goal of the season by running down the left and then passing the ball to the back of the net. This is more affectually known as CTRL-C times 1 and then CTRL-V times 4 for all of steven's goals this season.

Minutes later, a through ball from BX played shuheng in and he was one on one with the opposing keeper. First touch to control, and as you all know, the second is to hit the ball to the back of the net. His teammates were as delighted as he is to see him score his first goal for the club. PTI Tan was all smiles as he walked back to the halfway line. Kudos to the lad.

The team then showed flair and confidence after scoring this 3rd Goal. This was well portrayed by BX's mazy runs at the left wing, Xing's neat dribbling and spraying, Yun's sudden burst to join the attack with a long shot, and also Ang's outrageous ole! in the middle of the park.

It was a good outing for BPFC especially for the defence who kept their first clean sheet in 4 games, narrowly missing out in last game's 7-1 victory after a certain right back went bonkers and slide in the penalty box despite being 4-0 up. This game, we converted most of the chances we have and didnt really create much more than the 3-0 scoreline suggests.

Good Game. Next team!

Your beloved journalist, Ang

*Yup definitely a taxing game. Up against tough physical opponents on a sapping pitch certainly does not make the game easier. Next week would be a well deserved break for everyone. -BX
