BPFC 3-1 RandomRepublicPolyTeam

Scorers: Guo Xing, Peng Yong, Steven
Assists: ?, Steven, ? (help)

The team was boosted by the arrival of Xing, who had changed his driving timing for the game. The game was delayed for more than half an hour, as our opponents arrived late.

Missing the likes of Joel and Favian, the team covered well with the versatility of our players. Hong Yun commanded the defence after his first book out at Orion Company. It was also marshalled by Shuheng, ShengJie and Ang at the fullback positions. The partnership of BX and Xing continued, flanked by Steven and Alan. Upfront saw a speedy combination of Alan and mark, who has shared 7 goals between them thus far.

The opponents comprised of a team of indians, and were extremely confident in their brand of passing. There was little we could do to earn back possession, and had to resort to chasing for most parts of the game as we continued to watch them pass around. The team though stayed strong and tough, and they often were only able to pass in front of the defence and not through the defence. There was a considerable improvement in the defence's movement as compared to a-hongyun-less defence last week.

BPFC drew first blood and Guoxing showed us why he is an indispensable member of BPFC. Beating a total of 4-5 players as he dribbled into the box, he left his markers chasing and later unleashed an unstoppable low drive to the bottom of the net. 1-0 to BPFC.

On a rare defensive mistake by the defence, right back Ang was almost the guilty party as his miskicked clearance fell to the opposing striker, but luckily for him, he could only send the ball wide of the post. Both sides have their fair share of the game, though BPFC had the upperhand by creating much more chances than the opponents, who continued to threaten with their lion share of possession.

Second half started brightly for BPFC as Kian Tat replaced Shuheng and there was minor shiftings in the defence. Steven showed his wits by taking a quick freekick that found PengYong in the final third of the field. Latching on to the ball, his striking instincts took over from then on and it was 2-0 to BPFC and we are cruising.

The 3rd goal came soon after. Ironically, this time round Steven didnt pass the ball into the net. A well taken shot to the far post was sufficient to put it beyond the reach of the keeper. 3-0 BPFC and we congratulate Steven for being the top scorer of the club, albeit only a joint one.

It was a tiring game due to the constant chasing for possession. BPFC was able to snuff out most of the opponent's attacks, largely due to the discipline and shape of the entire team. The attackers found it hard to break our disciplined defence, coupled with a combative performance from the midfielders, they only had a good clear shot on goal, where Jackson dived well to push the ball away.

ShengJie's moment of delays and indecision placed the team under a tremendous amount of pressure. The resulting attack was well caught by Jackson, who then held on the ball for more than 6 seconds. The same referee who awarded the freekick outside the box at NUS was on hand to punish Jackson for the second time. And the next thing, the scoreline reads 3-1 as the indirect freekick in the box was well converted to the top corner, no chance for Jackson.

It was a good victory against a relatively strong team, who dominated possession with their confident passing, losing out to only their final ball in our final 3rd.

Most likely there wouldnt be a game next weekend. So cya guys 2 weeks later..! And lets thank Hong Yun who made the effort for the game despite having to book in at 5pm.

Just a small update, the team fund now has $31.

Scorers Chart:

The board of directors at BPFC sat down for an emergency meeting chaired by Gaffer Ang after star winger Favian declared himself as unfit for the game on Sunday.

BPFC is facing a crisis in midfield after declarations from stars like guoxing and favian that they will be unavailable for the game. There is a big question mark over who will fill the gap in the central midfield position, with BingXian the only central midfielder available. Coupled with the absence of Yuhao, Kai, Kelvin, BPFC is facing its worst crisis ever in history and the manager is demanding nothing less than a 100% committed performance from its players.

Gaffer Ang warned his players ahead of the clash on Sunday, when interviewed by the Strikes Times.

"The players must raise their game this sunday in the absence of the key players. It is each and every individual's responsibility to prepare themselves for the game on Sunday. We will tide through this as a team."

On a lighter note, Hong Yun showed his commitment to the team by responding to the emergency call up by the Gaffer for Sunday's game. The fans are thrilled by the return of defensive stalwart Lim, who has been sorely missed in last week's 4-2 victory. The defence was in bits and pieces with no one in charge last week. The presence of the commanding rock is a huge boost to the heavily depleted BPFC.

With only 11 players available on Sunday, BPFC is in danger of suffering its first loss of the season. Lets save ourselves and show the absentees that we can do it without them.

BP! OOOooooosh!
