Winter break

BPFC officially brings a year long football action to an end as the players receive their well deserved break. In the final push towards the final exams, the club wishes all players good luck and hopes to see more players bringing the club proud by making the dean list like a certain number 10.

On the other hand, the gaffer has made a mistake in field booking. Im only able to book slots up to 30th Nov. Hence i think its a fastest fingers first when the slots are opened. Keep u all updated regarding Regent sec being the official homeground in future games.

GOOD LUCK.

Regent sec.

Regent Sec.

Confirmed (12): PengYong, Joel, Steven, Shuheng, Mark, Alan, Lem, Xing, Yun, Weeheng, Kelvin, Me
Most likely coming: Favian
Friends contingent (1): Ang - 1 friend

Busy or injured: Alison, Yuhao, Kai, Jackson
Handphone probably dropped into toilet bowl: Kian Tat, ShengJie

It seems like nobody is bringing a friend or 2. Probably use half the field to play. If all those people finally collected their hp from the toilet bowl, we probably would have 15. just bring 7 friends and we can play 11 a side. tts like everyone bringing half a friend. Come on, its a joyous occasion, bring along ur brothers and sisters for a kick or 2 in BPFC's official family day.

Remember to bring 2 tops, white and blue. Those meeting, meet 1230 at yew tee MRT. let me know.

The BPFC board has urged all fans not to bring balloons to games in future.

For obvious reasons.

The very beginning

One of the first games we played at Tanglin fields. It says 17 feb 2007. Some pple just got recruited into army. But whats worse is some of them are not even enlisted yet!
Its a CNY eve and we drew 0-0.
Only about 1 year after this then we really got established and played regularly.

BPFC 2-2 random

The below is just my personal opinions on the game. Pls, u are more than welcomed if u have differing opinions. Im no great tactician nor philosopher, just my part on the intepretation of the game. End of the day if no one talks, your views are not shared, it wudnt be good isnt it.

We started out with a thin squad, requiring non-bpfc players to play for us 2nd time in a row. As the tough schedule sets in, it is natural for the team to get depleted at times. Esp when injury worries become a serious concern.

I thot we did pretty decent in the first half. Nothing fantastic, but we had good spells on the game and they were largely restricted to sudden counter attacks without much danger. Shengjie's moment of miscomm allowed the striker to sneak in and bring the scoreline to 2-1. But it wasnt really that bad.

But things got worse totally in the second half. Passes went astray one by one. I cant find a single player who had a proper game. Perhaps Xing was the best player just because he played simple and didnt make much mistakes. But other than that, we were crap.

No one really enjoyed the type of football we were playing. Like I said before the game, frustrations are bound to happen, and if u really think about it, we haven been used to playing with Xing and BX in central mid and this is a fact, as of now, their influence on the team is huge. Throw in any other player will not be as effective but, we must cope. If u think we used to be a much better team, ya true, but if we didnt have xing and bx from the start, we would PROBABLY still be playing like wat we did today.

Playing 2 games in a row with the same kind of shit football is by no means coincidental. We all say they didnt had a single outstanding player today. But we drew the game. Lets face it, eat the humble pie and get down to work. Keep your ego down.

Central positions form a great pillar on the team and it is natural that we face problems playing without natural centre mids. Its too much to ask for, for Favian or leonard to slot in to centre mid. Fav is never a player for challenges and he is a natural winger. We will definitely lose balls in centre mid, we will definitely not be able to string play with the centre mid as much as we would like.

And here comes my classic number 1 example. Who likes to miss penalty? Who likes to mispass? The whole team misspassed like nobody's business, one after another. And collectively we look like a team who cant play good football. We all want to come down on a weekend and have fun. The main objective is to have fun, even winning is secondary even though one may argue that u cant have fun without winning but lets not side track.

It is frustrating, it is sian to play like this. Towards the end of the game, we were aimlessly trying to get the winning goal, whacking the ball everywhere with no real purpose. But doesnt all these sound very familiar? Thats exactly what we did when we lost 3-0 to the RV team in cck sec, and that time we had the entire squad down. To say that we haven learnt anything would be very crude, as we had moments where we worked hard and were rewarded for, like the 1-1 draw against orange budget team at yusof ishak sec.

Keep in mind this, besides playing football, such games are actually a get together for us every weekend or so and enjoy a game we all love playing. Look at the archives page on your right, the oldest post says its june 2008. Well one year 4 months old football team aint exactly that old, but im sure we have been a better team since then, and stronger bonds were built.

This is not meant to be an emo post. End of the day, i just want to say that pls be realistic, with, so many players out, the standard of football we are seeing is natural. Look, at least we had a proper first half compared to the last game at sembawang. We cannot aim to play very well all of a sudden, but we slowly work. We have many more years down the road. We play for each other.

Just keep playing, we will do well. Just like if u miss penalties, keep taking :)
