3-5-2 opens up for a 4-0 victory

BPFC 4-0 Mixed NJC

Scorers: Alison, KianTat, YuHao, OG
Assists: YuHao, Ang, KianTat

It was a first victory at Woodgrove sec, also a first clean sheet in as many as 11 games. As if losing BX, fav, Joel, Kel, mark was bad enough, Steven decided to turn his back against BPFC by playing for NJC. Nonetheless, the team still went ahead with the much hyped 3-5-2. And this is how the line-up went:

Def: SJ Shuheng Kai
MF: PengYong Alan Xing Yun Ang
ST: Yuhao, Alison

First half was again close contest for both teams. The deployment of only 3 defenders at the back was rather shaky due to the large amount of space on the flanks which the opponents, esp Oon, who consistently attacked that gap. It took a long time for both teams to really settle down as play was scrappy in midfield across the highly sandy pitch, getting more and more bald every week. ( I cant recall much details)

The goal came in the middle of the first half. Ang's corner found the head of YuHao whose header in turn found Alison lurking in front of goal and wasted no time to make it 1-0 to BPFC. And we went into the half with that lead.

Second half started with things beginning to look brighter for BPFC. Half-time instructions was to hold up ball and play with more composure because we were just po-ing our chance that hopefully somebody will score. That has been what we've been doing for the past few games. It did had a slight effect on the team as we passed the ball around more than we usually did, at least for the first 10 minutes. Slowly but surely, we will be able to play a better passing football game. Halftime substitution saw KianTat replacing Alison as a striker. Big things were soon to come from the usual rightback. (e phrasing quite weird but heck im not writing GP)

A low cross from Ang was converted as the opposing defender's slight touch was sufficient to push the ball pass the line. 2-0 BPFC.

The 3rd goal came in an even more bizzare fashion. Not only a contender for cock of the season, its definitely a contender for one of world football's funniest moments. A seemingly harmless goalkick from their goalkeeper hit the back of the head of striker KianTat. And at that moment, Kian Tat was cursing WTF goalkick also hit my head, but on second thots, the striker was thinking HEY, this deflection might be beneficial to the team! True enough, he turned around to see the ball landing at the back of the net and it was 3-0 to BPFC. It just felt like the show i watched on channel 22 the night before, world's funniest soccer moments.

The scorer than turned provider but this time round it was no fluke. Receiving the ball from a teammate, he layed it off to YuHao. From outside the box, he took a shot which was well placed beyond the dive of the keeper. 4-0 BPFC.

We did have a few scares too, mainly from their left winger Oon. But fortunately for us, even though he put on his shooting boots today, it wasnt to be for his team. We also had more chances to increase the lead, notable misses from Ang after being put through by YuHao. After some neat footwork cutting one defender, all that remains was a well placed shot but once again, he has let his team down with the awful shooting.

The last kick of the game fell to Alison where YuHao's cross found him open in front of goal. Stretching to meet the flight of the ball, Alison put the ball over the bar when it could have been easier to score than to miss. But Kudos to the striker who contributed lots to the team.

Shuheng has been instrumental in defence. There are many green arrows in his technical stats after a even better performance from him today. All clearances were well met by his boot, not a single time did he screw all the clearances. A striker converted to centrehalf, with more games and exposure and improvement in the tactical areas, Shuheng is on his way to become the next Vidic.

Your MOM:

Shuheng - getting better and better. Clearances straight into opponent half! Didnt look an inch shaky
Xing - the usual him
PengYong - Playing at left mid, he had plenty penetrative runs and was a constant terror to the opposing defenders
Alan - a few neat dribbles and plenty of runs in attack and defence. Hard work for the criminal-like midfielder
YuHao - Flick ons, crosses, lay offs. 1 Assist and 1 goal.
Alison - First goal for the club with plenty of runs and attempts on goal

This voting system is somewhat biased in that i only choose the best 5 that are in my opinion. How else do you think we can improve the system?

Yun was the MOM for the previous game against squirrels.

Team fund: $177 + $45 = $222. (I think not everyone paid up today. pls own up)

At the current rate, we would only have to pay for half the price of the jersey as the rest will be subsidised by the team fund. Despite it not being a fair way to use the money, as players who played more would have payed more, i don think it we should be so gei gao. I played in all games and paid the most and i don mind.. Or maybe you guys are already thinking if i really pay! Well, i would gladly give up the post should anyone want to volunteer to be the treasurer. Anyway a small calculation at the funds each time u should know how the addition from each game come from. I cant go into details.

Life after LEM

Despite BX's recent new contract with the club, the club seems to be moving on to life without him. The team performed well without the mercurial midfielder and some are questioning BX's continual involvment in first team football.

"The coach should stick with a winning team. BX got to fight his way back to the first team." As quoted from a certain player.

Indeed, with such an emphatic win without BX, its hard for the Gaffer to drop and player in order to accomodate BX.

LEM signs lifetime contract

Recent rumours of Lem BX moving on to another club have been quashed when the midfielder put pen to paper on a lifetime contract with BPFC. The decision to pledge his future to the club came after the gaffer heaped praises on him. It was reported that Lem BX was moved to tears upon reading the paragraph dedicated to him in the previous post. He felt that under the tutelage of gaffer ANG he has matured into a better player and would continue to develop. "Theres no other clubs that i would swap the BPFC jersey (soon-to-arrive) for," quoted the player.

In addition, Lem felt remorseful after ruling himself out due to knee injury for subsequent games but hoped BPFC can continue to triumph without him. Lem also wishes one and all HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR =)

A few words from the boss

Dear BPFC,

This is just some random thoughts from me.

Actually there is absolutely no reason why I am always the one who chooses the starting 11. Perhaps because Im the one who books the field and liases with the referee, but other else than that, i cant really think of a reason too.

In terms of tactical knowledge, im pretty sure there are so much more out there who have much more to offer and also experience wise. However, i will still try to choose the most suitable 11 I can that i think can win the game. That may mean playing out of position, most notably in versatile players like ShengJie or Alan.

And here comes my point. I am not sure if any particular player thinks im not choosing the right team or if you should start ahead of others. If you think so.. just voice out. I don wanna be a dictator. I mean someone must definitely choose the team in order to have some form of organisation, if not every game i play striker already.

ya just my 1 cent worth of thots.

Is Lem really staying?

On another note, the club would like to announce that we have received no official bids from Man City for the purchase of midfield Lem. It has been rumoured that Lem's agent has been spreading news regarding Man City's interest in him, in a bid to spice up his name in the transfer market so that other clubs will take notice of him. In regard to this matter, BPFC has contacted the player to have a showdown talks with him after he returns from his 1 month layoff. The club has also revealed their piss-ness at Lem's fking stupid injury, ruling the player out for subsequent games.

It is widely rumoured that Lem's exit from the club may come sooner than expected, to the dismay of all his fans in the club. Lem's heartfelt waves to THE fan (weeheng) at the last game at Woodgrove Sec might proved to be his last goodbye, ending his short but fruitful career at BPFC. Let us take the chance to review some of BX's wonderful moments on the field.

The name LEM BX struck terror in the oppponent's ears in the fledgling BPFC. 4 goals in his first 2 games, it was tell tale signs of Lem's importance to the squad. Having conceded an early goal against the PTI's, Lem half-volleyed a shot to equalise for the team, beyond the reach of the goalkeeper, even Buffon might not be able to save that.

Scoring twice at NUS to bring BPFC to a 2-0 lead only for the tanker to equalise to 2-2, it was yet another testament of BX's shooting accuracy and techincal abilities.

And the list goes on...

We wish Lem BX all the best should he leave the club and I would urge all fans to tag at the tagboard now as a petition for him to stay. Should there be no tags, it just goes to show how passionate the fans are towards him.

Lem staying at BPFC

Star midfielder BX Lem chances of securing a move to Manchester City looks to be in doubt after he got injured in a FREAK accident that happened in BPGHS. Details on how he got injured were not clear, but it is confirmed that he will be out for at least one month, thus effectively ending his chances of securing a move to Manchester City before the transfer window ends on 2nd Feb. This is a big blow to Mark Hughes as he was hoping to bring the mercurial playmaker to the City of Manchester, especially after Kaka have rejected a move to the Eastlands. Now, Hughes has got to turn his attention to other players as he attempts to bolster his squad before the relegation battle against Newcastle on 28th Jan. - Reuters

BPFC 1-1 Squirrels FC

Scorer: Guo Xing
Assist: Lem BX

Half the Woodgrove curse was ____ (i dono wat english word to use, was thinking of lifted, removed.. aiya fug it) when we drew level with Squirrels FC at 1-1. Finally broke the streak of played 2 lose 2, but now it reads 3 winless runs in 3 games. Got to do something about it. And for those who like statistics even more, this is BPFC's 10th consecutive game without a clean sheet. Our policy of scoring one more than you is certainly not making the goals conceded part look good.

As star leftback Joel Yeo Lip Wee applied a last minute leave in order to tend to his girlfriend who was in the delivery room, things didnt look promising to the BPFC's defence. However, BPFC would like to send our best regards to both Joel and his GF, wishing them good luck in their new born child. To a few of the BPFC's players when discussed during prematch, this is the only reason a player can miss a match, this sort of urgency. Fortunately, the return of the rock in Hong Yun was a good psychological boost to the team. Playing without our 2 experienced goalkeepers, 3rd choice and ever-reliant Kelvin Lin stood in between the posts for his 2nd game ever as a GK for BPFC.

And so the line-up reads:
GK: Kelvin
Def: SJ, Yun, Shuheng, Ang
Mid: Steven, BX, GX, Fav
FW: Alan, PengYong

First half was stalemate and it was a tight contest between both teams. The presence of Yun added a different dimension to the BPFC's defence with his calm playing of the ball out of defence instead of the usual whack as you get. Our best chance in the half fell to PengYong whose header from BX's corner was a tad too weak and it fell safely to the hands of the opposing keeper.

Nothing especially exciting here and Kel had an easy first half in goal as both teams hardly threatened to scare.

Soon after the 2nd half kicked off, BPFC took the lead. BX's corner found GuoXing unmarked and the diminutive centre mid rose above all to head it pass the GK and made it 1-0 to BPFC. It was joy for the team as we hardly waited till the second half for our first goal.

A flurry of chances soon followed suit. Notably, BX's freekick went sailing over the bar and a few other shots from both inside and outside the box all missing the target. PengYong's ingenious turn-volley from a throw in fell wicked to the other side of the net. And how can we forget ShengJie's audacious volley from halfway line which saw the ball cruelly bounce over the goalposts for just a goalkick. Our striker's + leftwinger's unselfish play saw them missing a few pointblank chances where the possibility of getting a goal out of these few chances can be pretty high as Im sure they have the ability to pack a powerful shot!

Watching from the sidelines after being substituted, the defence was in bits and pieces. There were many times when a better move from the opponent could see our defence split apart. Both Fav and I had our hearts in our mouths as we watched the game.

A paragraph will also be dedicated to our rightwinger Favian. In the 4-3 victory over team TJC, Favian was out of the game for most parts. In his willingness to retain his position in the starting 11, the winger went for running exercises in the build-up to the game. Such is his level of commitment to BPFC and we should applaud him for that. His commitment aside, Favian showed the defensive side of him in today's game. Even though he didnt send in as many crosses as he used to, a winger's game should not be judged by the number of crosses he made. His contribution was at both ends of the pitch with decisive passes, and constant tracking back. It was a marked improvement as being a right back myself, it felt safe everytime an attack comes down because Favian would make a conscientious effort to track back and cover. Kudos to the winger.

End of the day, we can only say that we should be the better team. But the scoreline still reads 1-1. Our play is too one dimensional, only going forward. Composure was clearly lacking today and I would love to see the day BPFC stroke the ball around like all ah peks playing soccer. Little running and all passing. We are conceding so many goals not because we are unlucky, but for a reason. Remember to vote for your MOM.
On the next game, its gonna be 3-5-2 for BPFC with Yun deployed as a DM. Lets do it.
Today's addition to funds: $45
Current funds: $177
After much consideration, the club has decided to cash in on Lem BX should an offer from City arrive for $701 million. A 5 million percent increase in club funds, one would call Gaffer Ang as dumb should he reject the deal. In the meantime, we shall give BX another chance to prove himself worthy of staying at BPFC.
Contenders for MOM:
Favian - for his tireless defensive runs
Hong Yun - we all missed him so dearly
GuoXing - 1 goal and countless contributions
Kelvin Lin - 3rd choice keeper, but he never looked like a 3rd choice
Shuheng - hardly a foot wrong in defence
Others - pls mention on the tagboard who u wanna back for

Statistics so far for 2009:
Games played: 2
Goals scored: 4
Goals conceded: 4 (WTF)

Goals:
2 - PengYong
1 - Steven
1 - BX
1 - GuoXing

Assist:
1 - Ang
1 - PengYong
1 - BX

Man of the Match:
0.5 - PengYong
0.5 - Bing Xian

And i shall end the day with his meaningful picture and a slogan close to our hearts, by our famous model, Kel Lin.

Yes.. Lets march in 'victory' hand in hand..

Transfer Listed

Amidst the recent outbreak, it has been rumoured that Lem BX has requested to be transfer listed. Following Manchester City's failed $107million pound bid for Kaka, the club with abu dhabi backing has been alerted to the availibility of the midfielder from BPFC as an alternative target. City is considering breaking the bank with a $701million pound bid to test the financial resistance of BPFC's Board. City, with their abundance of wealth, is also hoping to lure Lem BX to the Middle Eastlands with a lucrative wage offer and a chance to SHINE in the EPL.

The reliability of recent rumours would therefore be dependent on whether Lem BX is dropped from the BPFC's squad against Squirrels FC tmr. - Reuters

Dropping

It has been rumoured that Set piece specialist Lem BX will be dropped from tml's squad after his public criticism on various defenders in the team regarding their recent advertistment shoot.

It remains to be seen whether the rumours will be justified.

The club wishes to emphasize that a public outbreak will not be tolerated and does not want to see anyone follow in the footsteps of William Gallas.

Since it's decided that we shall get the white set, it's time to decide wad numbers u all want. First come first serve ok. i think there will be numbers that a few may want, so a compromise must be reached la.(JOEL I WAN 13!)

And bx has got an idea. He said that the front of the shirt looks quite plain. He suggested that we put our initials(small one) at the heart area of e shirt. I think u all cant picture what his idea is, so here's e picture, courtesy of bingxian. HAHA

This is what the front will look like.

This is what the back will look like.

So any VIOLENT objections? or any better ideas? Please give ur one cent worth of comment.

Last thing to decide on. What colour should be numbers and e letters be? I think red is alright. Any other ideas?

PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE THE END OF THIS WEEK. AFTER THAT I WILL CONTACT THE SUPPLIER. I HOPE TO GET THE JERSEYS DONE BEFORE OUR NEXT GAME. YOUR CO-OPERATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS.

Jerseys

Hey guys, below are some pictures of jerseys. I need your VALUABLE opinions as to wad jersey we should make. Pls don't hesitate to give me your ONE CENT worth of opinion.

This is 1 of the few options we have la. We only have the top for this.

This is the 1 i like! haha won't get dirty easily!!! and it comes with the full set. Shirt and shorts.
This is wad the gaffer chose. same thing, shirt and shorts.

Here's e price. i think for the top only, it's only about $13-15 with number and name. Exact price must confirm with them again.

For the 1 set(shirt and short) it's around $22 per set. with number and name. and i think it's more worth it to do the set rather den just the shirt alone.

I think it's better that i sought your opinions before making any decisions. Even though all your opinions are only worth 1 cent, i still treasure it! haha so pls voice out ok! Thanks.

Man of the match for BPFC vs TJC

Vote for your MOM for this game.

1 - BingXian - His tireless runs saw him won plenty of balls and covered lots of space. Moments of brilliance include his goal, halfway line lob and a left footed volley.

2- GuoXing - His usual combative displays and dribblings

3-YuHao - Flick ons, flick ons and more flick ons. The targetman

4- Steven - Mazy runs and crosses from the left wing

5-PengYong - 2 Goals and many penetrative runs

Voting expires a week from now.

And by the way, congratulations to Steven and Jackson for being the joint-cock of the season for 2008, tie at 6 votes each.

10 men BPFC held on

BPFC 4-3 Team TJC

Scorers: PengYong x 2, Steven, BingXian

Assists: Ang, PengYong

The new season started with BPFC walking away with a hardfought victory albeit with a bit of drama in between. Central defender Shuheng saw red in the middle of the second half, the first BPFC player to ever get sent off. PengYong, Steven and BingXian had their names on the goalscoring charts of 2009 and ensuring we had the advantage when we were down to 10 men.

With majority of the defenders out, Kai filled into the left back slot with ang at right back whilst Joel was shifted to the centre to provide stability alongside Shuheng. It was a selection headache in the midfield and strikeforce department with a full squad to choose from. Its been a long time since a first choice MF was available, Fav and Steven going down the flanks with Xing and BX in centre mid. The big-small strikeforce in YuHao and PengYong meant that last year's 2nd top scorer Alan could only be contented to a place on the bench, together with KianTat, Mark and Alison.

It all went smooth early on for BPFC as we took the early lead typical of our plays, yet again. The loose ball from steven's corner fell to Ang who sent in a cross to the box. YuHao's unintentional dummy meant that the ball fell to PengYong who was totally free and didnt hesitate to send the ball to the back of the net. 1-0 BPFC.

However, BPFC's lead didnt last long. TJC replied almost instantly as an attacking throw in was met by their no.3 who did a bit of work before sending a blast with his left foot to the back of the net, leaving keeper Jackson with little or no chance. 1-1.

TJC hell possession for most parts of the first half thereafter and we were struggling to keep the ball under our feet. It was an improved side that was throunced 6-1 by us at Kranji Sec and we werent playing too well. Our long balls found targetman YuHao who timed and again flick it on to PengYong whose pace was a little too hot to handle for the TJC defence. It was a good partnership upfront as both of them created chances time and again. It was like an Emile Heskey/Michael Owen partnership for England, one winning balls whilst the other outrunning the defenders. But of course, it might be stupid to compare Heskey with YuHao where Heskey's value is nowhere near 50million.

Steven also showed moments of magic as a certain run saw him ghosts past at least 3 TJC players, leaving them in his trail. The defence did sufficient to keep our opponents at bay even though we didnt play exceptionally well.

Soon, BPFC had the advantage after a well worked goal. An early contender for goal of the season not for its highly technical shot, but because its a team-goal and a well placed finish. Intentional or unintentional, Favian's low hard cross found PengYong totally unmarked just outside the box. Instead of running down to shoot given the space available, last season's topscorer unselfishly play the ball to BingXian who was in a better position to shoot. One-on-one with Ivan, TJC's keeper, there was still a lot to be done. Ivan closed down the angle and there was little space to shoot. It wasnt a problem at all for the technically gifted centre mid who placed the ball over the keeper into the bottom left hand corner. Great team play, even better finish from BPFC. 2-1.

Not too long later, it was 3-1 to BPFC after a mix up in TJC defence saw Steven steal the ball and tapped it in to the empty net. (actually i dono how he scored)

TJC were not giving up just yet. A freekick outside the box struggle the crossbar and the followup was met by no.3 yet again, whose header lobbed past the vertically challenged Jackson who tried his best. 3-2.

It was end to end action as a random long ball from BPFC was headed by the TJC defenders, only into the path of PengYong. A free chance from nowhere, PY duely converted to put BPFC in a comfortable position. And we go into the half at 4-2.

Star player GX did give instructions to attack their goalkicks at halftime but it was a little too hard to comprehend and not many players understood the instructions given. Also, in a one off incident in the first half, GX was fouled to the ground and he stared at TJC's no.9, showing how pissed he was with the foul. He later on revealed that the stare was because the foul made him fall to the ground and that dirtied his white t-shirt! To add on to the misery, his mum would not wash such dirty T-shirts and its all the no.9's fault!

Second half saw a little more drama.

An inswinging corner from Steven found BX totally unmarked in the box. Technically gifted we thot he was, I have forgotten to mention that this only applied to his feet. His header turned out weak and off target, unlike the shots unleashed from his left foot. It was also a chance wonderfully created by soon-to-be-angryman Kai whose run in the box created space for BX to be free. Chance wasted.

He did try to make amends for the poor header right after. I thought i saw a replay of Beckham VS Paul Jones at St Mary's or Alonso VS Steve Harper at St James's but it wasnt meant to be. Coming from nowhere, BX saw TJC's keeper off the line and went for a delightful lob from almost halfway line. Unfortunately for BX and BPFC, the ball rebounded off the crossbar and the backtracking keeper's blushes were saved. Great vision from the centre mid who worked hard throughout the game.

And drama was to unfold thereafter. Last man Shuheng tugged the jersey of the no.9 who was running AWAY from goal and fell theatrically at the slight tug. After many poor calls in the game, Alex went one further by sending Shuheng off into the touchline! History was made as Shuheng saw red. The first ever BPFC player to be sent off. And BPFC played with 10men thereafter.

Yuhao was drafted into the centreback position. We were on the defensive side for most parts and they did pull a goal back, scoring from yet another lobbing header to make the score 4-3. Jackson had his heroic moments after saving a one-on-one under bizarre circumstances which seemed almost impossible.

BX also forced a good save from the keeper after a thunderous left footed volley was tipped over the bar.

All in all a good game but there are much to be improved on as a slightly better team would have got the better of us today.

Financial statement report:
Oh i realise i cannot be too transparent because of some reason i guess all of you know.

Today's addition to the funds: $150 - $100 = $50
You figure for yourself why its $150 and $100.

Add on to leftover of $82 previously, $132 in total. I made a mistake during calculation at post match.

Till the next time.
