BPFC 4-2 Oon's friends
Scorers: PengYong, KianTat, Ang, Xing
Assists: ShengYe, Steven
It was 352 yet again for the team. SJ SH and KEL lined up in def whilst Oon, Yun, Xing, Fav and Ang were the 5 in MF supporting strikers Alison and PengYong. Injury plagued BX Lem just suffered another blow when an injury to his heart was deemed serious enough to rule him out for yet another few weeks. Like in the case of Phil and Gary Neville, Filipo and Simone Inzaghi, we saw the likes of Huang ShengJie and Huang ShengYe in action at sembawang Sec.
Despite having most of the possession right after kick off, BPFC suffered an early blow when a rare attack from their left and a concentration lapse from the defence saw their striker sneak in behind and duely finished off the move with a perfect finish which left Jackson with no chance. Stunned by the goal, BPFC just had to work harder.
We continued to dominate possession through the half only to see most of our efforts whisker just wide of the posts. Striker Alison suffered an injury midway through and ShengYe had to come on early on as a striker and he wasted no time to impress with a long range effort that was held comfortably. Favian took on the role of BX to spread play and link up and had a long range effort which went just over the bar. It was a good clean strike and was unlucky to miss. Also, one of his inswinging corners nearly went straight into the net only for the defender on the line to head it away. Kel also had a half volley that went just wide from a corner kick.
1-0 at halftime.
Continued our strategy through the second half. An early attack right after kick off saw ShengYe and PengYong combining well before the debutant laid off to PengYong who sent a curling shot to the far posts beyond the reach of the keeper. An immediate response from BPFC.
The second goal came not long after. Disposessing the left back in the penalty box, Winger Ang cut him before looking up and saw SJ free in the area. A precise low cross found the defender one on one with the keeper but the tame shot was well saved by the keeper. In the follow up to the rebound, Ang missed what was to be the miss of the year when he miscued his shot entirely but luckily for him, KianTat was around as a wonderful turn and shot sent the ball into the net. 2-1 to BPFC and super sub striker Kian Tat does it again.
A freekick given away by SH outside the penalty box was moved further 10 yards in when Yun charged out just before the kick was taken. In the resulting freekick, a somewhat routine save by Jackson saw him spill the ball under him and it rolled under him pass the goalline. A rare blunder by the first choice Keeper and the score line stands 2-2.
Some drama then took place when one of their guys challenged our authority but what happens in the game remains in the game. Waves and waves of attacks from BPFC saw us pressing the opponents right from the strikers and it didnt take much longer before the pressure paid off. Oon's inswinging corner was missed by the jumping Yun and everyth happened so quickly that Ang stuck out his knee to make a slight contact with the ball and it was sufficient to see it pass the line. 3-2 BPFC and we are back in a shout!, esp Yun.
Xing rounded the game with a solo effort which saw him winning the ball in MF and dribbling into the box and placed the shot pass the keeper.
End of the day, 4-2.
Current funds: $222 + $45 = $267
BPFC is glad to declare that we have added 2 Mikasa balls to our armoury and we can use the funds entirely for the jerseys now. It is expected that each set of jersey will be subsidised $10 except for the guy who has made just a 1 minute appearance for BPFC, lim Song Yee. The beefy striker has completed his operation and is on his way to full fitness soon. We hope to see him back in action by June as he will be exchanging touches with Henrik Larsson and Fredrik Ljungberg come July. He will be away for 6 months in Europe for a student exchange programme in Lulea University.
