Kelvin

BPFC finally snapped its winless streak, but at a price as GK Kelvin was sent to hospital for a suspected fractured nose. The previous time these two teams met, the match ended in a 1-1 draw with nothing separating these two sides. However, BPFC knew that it clearly has to raise its game to match, if not better the previous performance against more illustrious opponents.

The team was boosted by the return of 50 million Yuhao and playmaker GuoXing just before kickoff. Both team started tentatively with BPFC dominating play in the half of Orange Budget. Diminutive winger GuoXing, who was playing on the left, won BPFC a penalty when he was tripped by the opponent. BingXian converted the penalty when his shot squirmed under the arms of Budget Orange’s Goalkeeper who looked to have the shot covered. A relieved looking BingXian trudged back to the mid-way line as BPFC led one nil after 15 minutes.

Budget Orange had a player sent off as he executed a headbutt to ZhiKai ala Zinedine Zidane. Such unsportsmanship is never tolerated on the pitch. A more dramatic incident followed as Budget Orange’s player clashed studs on to BPFC’s keeper as he made himself big and narrowed the angle after a double save. Play was halted as GK Kelvin was bleeding profusely from his nose. Gaffer Ang and Shuheng had to accompany Kelvin to the hospital and BPFC had to send on all its substitutes .

Alan and Alison were playing upfront, supported by GuoXing and PengYong on the flanks. Yuhao had to drop to the middle and partnered BingXian while HongYun returned to lead the team from the back and Zhikai taking over as GK. It was one of biggest impromptu shuffles ever done by BPFC.

Alison had a run down the left flank and took the ball all the way to the penalty box before cutting back to his strike partner, Alan, who could only find the side netting. The referee soon blowed for half time.

The second half started with Budget Orange determined to find the equalizing goal. That goal came against the run of play when their center back make a darting run to the near post and planted a firm header into the near post from a corner.

However, BPFC was soon back on the ascendancy as Alison tried to thread a through ball through the legs of their center back to Alan. The ball inadvertently clipped the legs of the defender and fell kindly into the path of Alan. A composed Alan finished calmly from a tight angle and continues to move up the scoring charts.

Budget Orange almost replied immediately after a lapse in defence by BPFC. Fortunately, their striker chose to blast the ball high and over when a placed finish would have sufficed. This seemed to jolt BPFC out of their complacency as they harried and closed down the opponents. Debutante Leonard was first to every loose ball while emergency right back PengYong also cleared a shot off the line. Center-back Hongyun marshaled the back line admirably and even executed a sliding challenge cleanly in the penalty area. Bing Xian had two long range efforts but they failed to trouble the keeper.

Budget Orange had their striker sent off for a double yellow after fouling BingXian. The team held on for the last ten minutes with 10 men as Alison had to troop off the pitch for a stubbed toe. It was a deserved victory for BPFC who fought harder as a team and adapted well to the major reshuffle. With that 2-1 scoreline, BPFC is back to winning ways and what a moment and what a way to do it against a more fancied team!

On a side note, BPFC wish a speedy recovery for Goalkeeper Kelvin so that he can enjoy his exchange in Finland. Yes, this win is for you, Kelvin.
